 About Allan.

Professional Speakers Association Allan Mackintosh is a Performance Management Coach who has been in industry since 1982. Allan began his ‘coaching journey’ while Captain of Rugby at The University of Glasgow in 1980 and during a business career as a sales executive and sales manager. He continued to coach rugby at the University of Glasgow and with The Scottish Universities select squad.

When the offer of a business coaching position came up in 1993 he jumped at the chance and he became one of the first specialist team coaches within the pharmaceutical industry. Working with both the top sales people and 1st and 2nd line managers, Allan continued to develop his coaching skills and after eight years in the position decided to broaden his horizons and leave the pharmaceutical industry to create PMC Scotland in 2001.

Since creating PMC he has developed a number of innovative coaching models such as OUTCOMES, CHANGES, CARERS and ASPIRES and now that he has created a Team Development organisation, TeamBuilders International Ltd, the combined approaches of PMC and TBI offers a very powerful development combination designed to transform management and their teams.

What people have said about Allan and his approaches:

"As a coach, Allan has been incredibly helpful in helping me to develop myself as team leader of the Tayside Sales Team. I have found him a good listener and he has helped me understand how some individuals operate within teams. His questioning is direct and sometimes quite challenging, but I always find him supportive and he ensures that I come up with the solutions".
Yvonne Feeney, Team Co-ordinator, GlaxoWellcome Tayside Sales Team.

"Having an external coach like Allan has been good for the team. His knowledge of team dynamics is good and this has helped the team to understand what happens to them as a team when they get together. His interventions have enabled the team to think not only about their desired outcomes but also about the processes and procedures that they put in place to achieve these outcomes. Team meetings are now very productive"
Jeff Taylor - Sales Manager , Lundbeck.

"I was sceptical about having a coach. However, having had Allan as my coach, I can honestly say that not only have my sales skills developed, but my leadership skills have improved as well. Being a co-ordinator or leader of a sales team, I found some of the relationships in the team strained due to a number of factors. Allan's direct but supportive coaching helped me to understand the various personalities in the team and how they liked to operate. He challenged my actions and behaviours constructively so much so that I changed my approach to various individuals and situations. I'm glad to say that the new approaches resulted in very positive results. If you are looking for someone to support you, but also to challenge you, in order that you get better outcomes, then get a coach!"
Stuart Martin, Sales Representative, Allen & Hanburys Ltd.

"Before Allan came to coach our management team, meetings were fairly shambolic with morale and motivation low. As a result of his coaching interventions we now have agreed goals and our processes and procedures are now being adhered to. This has resulted in better outputs and increased morale and enthusiasm"
Stuart Urquhart, Chairman, Troon & District Sports Club.

"When Allan was my coach, I found his interventions really useful in relation to how I myself intervened with the team and individuals within the team. Of particular use was his knowledge of team dynamics and leadership. The models of leadership that he introduced me to, and coached me through, enabled me to interact more productively with both team and individual"
Jim Honeyman, Area Sales Manager, Allen & Hanbury's Ltd.

"The early feedback from delegates was that they thoroughly enjoyed the day and particularly your workshop on coaching. I have had a number of delegates comment on the high standard of your delivery and on the quality of information received".
Michael Moran, Training & Development Advisor, Glasgow City Council.

"A refreshing, well delivered program which was both enjoyable and informative. Implemented correctly it will move our company forward and make working more rewarding for our individuals."
Martin Welsh, Director, BoothWelsh Automation, Stevenson, Ayrshire.

"Well structured and informative. A very good starting point for managers who have not practiced coaching in the past. Also good as a "refresher" to update skills and knowledge for those who have coached before"
Pamela Anderson - Chief Executive, Ayrshire Chamber of Commerce & Industry.

"Well delivered course done in a very informal but informative format. Good presenter who made the course very enjoyable"
Michelle Ross - Team Leader - The Learning Game, Glasgow.

"The two days have allowed me to construct a strategy for dealing more effectively with people in the future. The ability to practice the coaching skills in a "safe" environment was extremely helpful "
Irene Gott, Organisational Development Manager, Ayrshire & Arran Acute Hospitals Trust.

" Thanks again to you & Allan for all your help over the last 2 days. I found the course really helpful. In fact, I was so motivated that I came home & re-wrote my action plan! I thought it might be useful for you to have a copy of it when we have the phone coaching session".
Victoria Hunt, Greater Glasgow Primary Care Trust (NHS).

"I was in the office yesterday and talked to a number of RBM's and development executives who attended the courses, which you ran last week. The anecdotal feedback was excellent, well done and hopefully this will lead to more opportunities for you".
Bill Paton, Unit Business Manager, Takeda UK Ltd.

"This was the most motivational and empowering course I have ever embarked on. Well done! Life Changing stuff."
Marianne, Greater Glasgow Primary Care Trust (NHS).

"Of all the courses I have been on, I felt most comfortable on this one and did not worry about being singled out to do role play in front of everyone, etc. Felt able to speak freely and therefore gained a lot".
Eileen Shogun, Greater Glasgow Primary Care Trust (NHS).

"Just a quick e-mail, Allan, to thank you for today. You don't need me to tell you that you're good at what you do. You already know that. However, your passion for coaching really shines through and is very infectious. You had a real mixed bag there today, including a couple of fairly cynical folk, I think, and by the sound of things at the end, everyone went away fired up to give coaching a real good try".
Alex Smith, Director, Enterprising Solutions (Kirkintilloch).

"Really enjoyed the course-thank you. Good size of group, venue and central location. Will recommend this course to a variety of people"!
Jackie Hammond, Director, Hammond Resources Ltd.

"I thoroughly enjoyed the day and learned lots! Excellent. I thought I knew what coaching was all about but this has inspired me to continue to learn more".
Yvonne Mullen, Manager, NTL.

“The best management course I have been on for extracting and using inherent skills. Allan’s professional but ‘down to earth’ approach made the course easily understood and will enable me to apply it in the workplace”
Julia Redman, Capio Healthcare.
